Five actors are now competing to take home the most prestigious award in film, the Oscar, with the winner revealed when The Oscars airs LIVE SUNDAY MARCH 27 8e/5p on ABC. The nominees for Actor in a Supporting Role are: Ciarán Hinds, Troy Kotsur, Jesse Plemons, J.K. Simmons and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Troy Kotsur is the second deaf actor to be nominated for playing a deaf character. Previously, Marlee Matlin won an Oscar for her leading role in CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD (1986). This is the first nomination for Ciarán Hinds, Troy Kotsur, Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smit-McPhee. This is J.K. Simmons' second nomination in this category.
